This issue affects a specific subset of the PCMCIA ATA Disks and Compact Flash cards that were installed in specific Cisco routers manufactured between May 2005 and October 2006. Cards shipped individually as spares over that same time span may also contain one of the affected units. This issue has been linked to a component manufacturing problem. The root cause was identified and appropriate steps taken to resolve the problem. Product impact varies due to different flash memory access methodologies and use patterns. Some products may be able to mitigate the potential effect by re-writing affected memory areas at specific intervals. This feature does not work with all products, so please check the workaround section for availability and specific instructions.

Field Notice: FN - 63129 - CRS-1 - Upgrade Failure Due to Insufficient Disk Space for IOS XR 3.7 and Greater - Upgrade Flash Disk to 2GB
The space required to store IOS XR software on the flash disk continues to increase with availability of new feature rich releases. Due to the increase in the IOS XR software image size, users may have insufficient disk space to store current XR software versions and new versions intended to upgrade. Inadequate free disk space can cause upgrade failures.

Field Notice: FN - 62572 - 1900W Power Supply Displays the Wrong Power Wattage - Replace Power Supply
The 1900W power supply has an Input Voltage Monitor (IVM) output signal that sends logic low signal to the supervisor for 110VAC input and logic high signal to the supervisor for 220VAC input. The Supervisor is programmed within IOS to detect the IVM signal and show corresponding output power; 1019.34W for 110VAC and 1869.42W with 220VAC input. A manufacturing process escape resulted in the misprogramming of address 162 in the 1900W EEPROM with the value of '1' rather then '3'.

Field Notice: FN - 62514 - C7200-JC-PA - Certain Jacket Cards with PA Installed on 7200VXR May Have Infrequent System Crashes Due to PCI Bus Error, Software Forced Crash, WDT Reset Error - Upgrade Program Available
System crashes have been observed on 7200VXR systems when the PA is installed in a C7200-JC-PA port adaptor jacket card. The system crashes could occur when a bidirectional traffic stream is frequently started and stopped. The following errors: PCI Bus Errors, Software Forced Crash errors, and WDT errors are only seen at the onset of traffic. Note: Port adaptors can be installed with or without jacket cards. Only port adaptors installed in jacket cards are affected by this issue. Types of PAs supported with C7200-JC-PA on 7200VXR.

Field Notice: FN - 63046 - CRS - 10C768-POS-SR Cards May Experience Bit Error Rate (BER) Incidents Due to Onboard Short - Upgrade Program Available
OC768 cards operating on the CRS-1 chassis may encounter intermittent burst BER events several months after installation due to dendrite growth. A dendrite is a crystal with a tree-like branching structure that is formed when a metal, or an alloy of multiple metals, in liquid form freezes. Packaging contamination can allow molding compounds to absorb moisture through the package body and between the lead frame molding compound interface causing dendrite formation. Combined with moisture, this results in a lowering of resistance between tracks and pads and can lead to metal corrosion.

Field Notice: * Expired * FN - 27495 - High Pitched Humming Sound From Cisco10720-DC
It has been found that a certain capacitor used in the DC power supply can cause the supply to emit a high pitched sound under some situations. This sound is different than what may normally be heard from a power supply, and the intensity of the sound is based on the load of the power supply. Under a no load condition, the sound in the high frequency range has the highest audible noise. This issue occurs only with capacitors provided by one vendor and not all units emit sound at the same level. In all cases, the sound is still well within the allowed specifications of noise radiation for the system. Also, the reliability of the power supply is not reduced in those supplies which emit this sound. Manufacturing has discontinued use of capacitiors from this vendor.
